I'm considering using the TI DLPDLCR471TPEVM for this project. Before diving in, I'd really appreciate any feedback on this for structured light applications, and specifically, what cameras you'd recommend or have had good experiences with for this kind of setup. I'm also open to other suggestions. Thanks in advance!

when you're scanning something small, curved, and potentially shiny like a fingernail, you'll need to be hyper aware of specular reflection
The DLP is bright, which helps, but managing the angle of projection and camera will be key to avoiding blown out areas or pattern distortion from glare. Try cross polarization techniques for both the projector and camera if reflections become a major issue
 
Unless you're locked into TI's ecosystem, that DLP module's overpriced for what you get. Open-source light engines paired with decent global-shutter industrial cameras often outperform TI kits in structured light setups, and you're not stuck behind TI's firmware limits
