I'm looking for options for a dual camera setup on my HP 3D scan software to utilize the stereo vision and increase the scan coverage. Can anyone point me to cameras with low-level control and have DirectX-compatible drivers with HP 3D scan? I'm hoping to find something max $1000 for the pair but I'd be open to spend more if you convince me it's worth the investment.

honestly, that $1000 budget for a pair of cameras with true low level control and global shutter for stereo vision is pretty tight
Most dedicated industrial cameras like Basler ace or FLIR Blackfly S will run you more than that per camera, new. but, if you can find them used, they are absolutely worth the investment for the stability and accuracy they provide over webcams for 3D scanning. They often come with robust DirectX-compatible drivers

HP 3D Scan supports any camera with DirectX drivers, but you might run into compatibility issues. If You can look into Mindvision SUA630M-L or Daheng MER630-60U3M-L. They're pricier, but works well in dual setups.

$1k is huge. Anyway , if you want a dual camera setup with HP 3D Scan, the ELP USB Global Shutter or Point Grey Flea3 are great options that fit your budget. They work with DirectX and give good control, but HP doesnt officially guarantee support, so testing is a must.
