My team has a new game project, and we need to 3D scan a bunch of stuffed animals!
I've been messing around with Kinect and Skanect before, but most of my team mates are new to 3D scanning generally.

We want to up our game with a better setup. These animals range from tiny (about 10cm) to huge (2m), though most are in the 0.5-1meter.

Our budget for this whole shebang is $1000 tops, and we'll have pro studio lighting to light things up.
I was eyeing the Structure Sensor, but it seems like it's not all it's cracked up to be for anything bigger than a head.

Tell me about your experience with the 3D Systems Sense scanner. Is it better for larger stuff?
or is there another scanner you'd put your money on?

With that budget and size range, forget the structure sensor, I tell you plainly from what I think, it struggles with anything over small objects. The 3D systems sense is slightly better for midsize, but still far from perfect for big stuff. Honestly, for $1000, your best bet might be to combine multiple scans and stitch them manually or consider used prosumer gear
